An ecological tragedy has been happening in Madagascar since January arousing a great number of reactions at national and international level. Logging of endemic precious wood – rosewood, palisandre and ebony – has been flourishing more than ever this year due to the political crisis. "Logging of precious wood can have severe impacts on both the forest and indigenous peoples," anticipated Erik R. Patel of Cornell University, USA, in December 2007.
